What is a UAA (Use Attainability Analysis) and its Impacts on Clean Water

Calling all clean water and justice advocates in NYC! The DEC is working to downgrade their requirements for clean water, and we’re mobilizing against this. Before we can oppose this, however, we all need a strong understanding of the regulations at play. The SWIM Coalition put together a waterbody advocacy training for all interested persons, since what is being proposed will have lasting impacts on our communities and ecosystems.

Below, you can revisit the first in the series, a virtual training session on what a Use Attainability Analysis (UAA) is, why it can be used, and what the SWIM Coalition is doing to prevent this from going forward. We encourage all clean water and environmental justice advocates to learn what we as a community can do to speak out against their use in NYC. You can read more about our speakers below:

Mike Dulong

As Riverkeeper's Legal Program Director, Mike leads a team focused on protecting the Hudson River and New York City waters by working with community and local organizations to preserve safe drinking water, reduce polluted sewage and stormwater discharges, clean up toxic sites, and ensure sustainable waterfronts.

John Narvais-Gwilt

John is a Student Intern with the Pace Environmental Litigation Clinic, a pro bono legal clinic located at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law in White Plains. Like his colleagues, John is aiming to assist vital nonprofit organizations, like Riverkeeper, in their efforts to promote positive environmental policy.
