Comment Letter Writing Workshop
Revisit the second installment of our advocacy training series: a workshop on learning the power of comment letters and how to write them, with a particular focus on the upcoming proposed UAAs. The goal of this virtual workshop was to help individuals and members of action organizations alike feel more comfortable writing and sending their own comment letters.
While the current proposed UAA under review only affects the Harlem River, there is a chance that approval of this change will negatively affect other water bodies in the future, including:
East River and its tributaries
Newtown Creek
Arthur Kill and Kill Van Kull
Jamaica Bay tributaries
Coney Island Creek
If you are invested in the health of any of the above water bodies, please join us in speaking up for the Harlem River and avoid setting a dangerous precedent for NYC. Public comment hearings on the proposed Harlem River UAA are being held by NYS DEC on June 16th, 2:00pm [virtual] & June 18th, 2:00pm [NYS DEC Office]. View the workshop so that you are prepared to participate in upcoming public hearings on this topic!
In the meantime, you can join Riverkeeper in taking action at the link here and learn more about the specifics of the Harlem River UAA here.
